completely formulaic, totally predictable, superficially directed and, in my opinion, entirely worth seeing. it relies on all of the tropes you'd expect - e.g., "rich white lady rescues sad, disadvantaged black boy with no hope of achieving his true potential" - but, goddammit, they work here! furthermore, it's a damn fine relief from the preciouses, single mans, crazy hearts and sin nombres of the season.
bullock is super enjoyable to watch - she absolutely deserves the oscar nomination that i assume is coming her way.
the blind side is just a good movie. brava.
