Awards Etc.

Most Difficult Distraction to Seeing Movies this Year: a little thing called the presidential election.
Runner-up: this article explains

Performance of the Year: Heath Ledger- The Dark Knight

Dude Who Had a Really Good Year:
Looked like Robert Downey Jr. had this one locked up early with Iron Man and Tropic Thunder, but Ralph Fiennes comes from behind to win with a combo of The Duchess, In Bruges, and The Reader (not to mention Bernard and Doris on tv)
Second Runner Up: Kate Winslet- Revolutionary Road and The Reader. Neither made my Top 10, but she's fantastic.

In a Year of Really Depressing Movies, Most Depressing Movie I Saw: Recount (remind me to never relive the 2000 election again)

The Indiana Jones Award for Indiana Jones-ness: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (look people, I don't care if it did feature aliens, it was Indiana Jones!)

Movie that Seemed Like a Really Good Idea But Then REALLY Wasn't:
Be Kind, Rewind

Out of 13 Nominations, the Only Oscar Benjamin Button Should Win: Achievement in Makeup

Most Glaring Oscar Snub: Bruce Springsteen for "The Wrestler"

Best Thing About the Awards Show Season So Far: Brangelina's snubbing of Ryan Seacrest at the Golden Globes
Worst Thing About the Awards Show Season So Far: The announcement that Jon Stewart will not be hosting the Oscars this year

Special Award for Genius Internet Film-making: Doctor Horrible's Sing-a-long Blog

Person Who Can Win Every Award That She's Nominated for, As Far As I'm Concerned: Tina Fey
