Aside from its rad spoofs of the Old Spice commercials and True Blood (and, I'm sure, many others), Sesame Street is still looking out for its primary audiences of children.
Showing kids an African-American girl singing about how much she loves her hair = awesome in my book(and something that little girls don't get to see portrayed anywhere else- see Chris Rock's documentary "Good Hair")
