um, this is awesome

interactive youtube video games??? Who knew this could exist? And this is perhaps especially entertaining for non-twilight fans. :) go ahead, play a round...

heartbreaking news of the day

Apparently Starz has decided to cancel the half hour of genius known as Party Down. If you hadn't already discovered this show then the sadness of this will not be fully realized until a ways down the road when someone gets you hooked and then you get to live with the knowledge you could have been watching it the whole time (I'm looking at you, late to the Arrested Development bandwagon-ers). Seriously, it's so good. And a trip down Veronica Mars cast memory lane. So give it the proper mourning and go watch it on Netflix instant now.

(I chose this picture because youtube failed me in finding a clip that fully expressed the awesomeness. But, seriously, go to Netflix instant streaming now)

how are they going to handle the whole "poke" issue?

So, if I were to tell you that there is a movie coming out about Facebook starring people like Jesse Eisenberg, Justin Timberlake, and Rashida Jones you would probably expect it to be something along the lines of this:

of course, what I failed to mention is that its written by Aaron Sorkin and directed by David Fincher, so it's apparently more like this:

I can't decide whether to be excited for the potential awesome of all of those people on one project, or really concerned about how seriously they're taking Facebook...

the best part of my week.

Dear Internet,

Can we subtly include Ira Glass and Zach Galafianakis in more videos, please?

Kisses,
Jessica

I mean, he's no RDJ...

but apparently Seth Rogen is our new flawed super hero...

I do love the casting of Christoph Waltz and Tom Wilkinson (not to mention, apparently, Adama)!

Talented people using their powers for good...

We've already seen what happens when students making stop motion videos combine with post-its. Now we are blessed to discover what happens when musicians stop paying attention to all that classical music, and start studying the things that really matter:

By the way, this is not the only video game in his arsenal. And I still maintain my diminishing sense of superiority over these infinitely more talented people by once again pointing out that I am way better at Mario than he is.

If it seems like there have been a large number of nintendo themed posts of late, well, the only answer I can give is that apparently the universe loves you. You're welcome.

i think my head just exploded

seriously, snoop, i don't even have the words. i mean, i love true blood, too, but that didn't mean that I wrote a rap about it. snoop's actions of late (see gurls, california) make me think he's just said fuck it and decided to make all the money he can. oh well, here's to Sookie!

tip of the hat to Trina for sharing this!

two people i have fallen in love with this year

Craig Robinson and Jimmy Fallon. Robinson was always a favorite on the Office, but then he went and made Hot Tub Time Machine and jumped to a whole new level. Fallon, well, if you read this blog at all you know of the genius that is Jimmy Fallon. thank the baby jesus we get them together

whoever made this is way more talented than I am

but that's okay, because I'm way better at Super Mario than they are...

also, ready to have your mind blown? It's made from Post-its.

wax on, fuck off

i mean, this is what the internet is for. THIS is the new karate kid movie I want to see.

thanks to hot tipper Kristen!

we owe him so much

apparently Alfred Hitchcock was not just a great director who revolutionized film. He might also be the source of "that's what she said" (in its early, unevolved form)

two people who never stop giving

thank you, gaga and bale. and to the genius who had too much time on their hands and put it together, we salute you.

also, seriously, who else loved Newsies??

special thanks to hot tipper Keri!

honestly, not sure this even deserves a post...

because I could not have been less interested in the MTV Movie Awards last night. Any time that Twilight wins everything (including, most offensively, ACTING awards), I feel unable to relate to or care about the results (and, keep in mind, I'm the 3pies4rolls-er who dislikes the twilight phenomenon the least)

a few other observations:
  • Sandra Bullock is fabulous. And amazing looking. Welcome back, Sandy! (and i also don't hate that you and ryan reynolds are reuniting for more rom-com magic)
  • Christina Aguilera, what happened to you? I couldn't decide if you were trying harder to be Gwen Stefani, Pink, or Gaga. All I know is that I could have lived without the glowing heart vaginas
  • Les Grossman is funny in small amounts. a full dance number is unnecessary (frankly, I think I enjoyed Ed Helms performance of the Hangover song much more). and, despite the unexpected goodwill the Grossman character has earned Cruise, watching him present as himself at the end of the night still made me throw up a bit in my mouth.
  • Kristen Stewart, if you are going to claim to hate all the attention you get and actually have the insensitivity to say that looking at paparazzi photos of yourself is like looking "at someone being raped" (true story. and yes, she apologized, but you've gotta be fucking kidding me), and make a huge deal out of how obnoxious it is that people keep asking if you and robert pattinson are dating, then perhaps you shouldn't play into it all and stir it up with your best kiss acceptance. Really, I don't give a shit whether you two are dating. But I'm tired of my entertainment magazines wasting space on it. So please, stop yelling at them for it and then encouraging it. Thanks, Jessica.
  • frankly, I think this was my favorite part of the night:

TV University

This is impossible to fully appreciate at the size below, but check it out here and zoom in. Is the person who created this inside my brain??? How did they manage to combine everything I love? I'm enrolling in TV University tomorrow. I will be double majoring in Archeology and African-American Studies, with a minor in Bird Law and a lot of time spent at the library and campus health.

Reasons to live in NYC

When I went to see Conan in Seattle the only "special guest" we got was Dave Matthews. New Yorkers got a Stephen Colbert/Conan/Jon Stewart dance off. not cool, NYC, not cool.

UPDATE: that video wasn't enough for you? here's the longer one, courtesy of teamcoco.com

and just in case that didn't make you jealous enough, apparently a few other friends stopped by, including Paul Rudd, Bill Hader and John Krasinski. Sigh...
